Ladies Day at Aintree isn’t like any other race day. This one is for the ‘here to be seen’ers’ and the ‘go glamorous or go home’ers’. The limelight shines not just on the champion horses and jockeys but Liverpool’s best dressed. A day marked in the calendar months in advance, Ladies Day is watched the world over, renowned for its famous race day fashion.
Hundreds of racegoers spent the first part of their day queuing to get their pictures taken to enter the 2023 Style Awards.

Natasha Jonas became the first British female boxer to qualify for the Olympics after reaching the semi-finals of the 2012 World Championships. Since then the 37 year old, who grew up in Toxteth in Liverpool, has turned professional and in February of this year became world champion when knocking out Uruguayan opponent Christian Namus. She then went on to win the WBC and IBF super-welterweight titles to add to her glittering amateur career, which included a bronze medal in the lightweight division at the 2012 AIBA World Championships; bronze in the light welterweight division at the 2011 European Championships; and silver in the light welterweight division at the 2014 European Championships.
An entrepreneur and fitness instructor who rose to fame after getting cast on the fourth season of Love Island, Frankie has a passion for horse racing and his hometown is Cheltenham.

Touch wood… The sun usually shines for the Randox Grand National! And regardless of if the weather plays ball or not the girls will certainly dress up in something bright and bold so lads can do the same. It is the one National Hunt meeting where I would encourage a brighter suit or even just a tie that stands out with more colour than usual. If the sun shines, perfect! If it doesn’t, you won’t be out of place because the whole of Aintree is dressed for sunshine anyway.
For Aintree I will be in a more colourful suit and tie, this year I will almost certainly be wearing one of the HOC Miami collection suits. I will probably keep it 3 pieces just for a little extra warmth if needed rather than sticking a coat over the top!
My advice for first timers is to use what you already have and then purchase one new item that makes it feel like more of an occasion, you don’t need to buy a whole new outfit. Most blokes have either a suit at home, or some form of trouser/chino/ blazer that will work. All you have to do is purchase a new tie, or smart blazer and an old outfit will feel brand new.
You will rarely look smarter than when you are wearing a good suit.
Otherwise simply be smart, be comfortable, a little colourful, and make sure it fits!
As mentioned besides disastrous weather I would avoid the classic National Hunt get up, dark overcoats and flat caps that you might see at a November meeting, be a bit more fun for Aintree.
Other than that the obvious of wearing what fits and certainly don’t kill your day with brand new shoes giving you blisters!
Baker boy caps rather than farmer flat caps probably work best for Aintree but I likely won't be wearing a hat and will be wishing more for sunglasses!
