Known as the greatest flat race in the world, The Betfred Derby. This is the one that sired all the others, the crown jewel of racing. One chance for three-year-olds to make history. 245 years, 245 different winners, this is where future champions are made.

The Betfred Derby is the race that every jockey, trainer and owner wants to win. The race is run over a distance of 1 mile, 4 furlongs and 10 yards over an undulating course climbing the equivalent height of Nelson's Column.

Contenders

The first entries stage for the 246th running of the Epsom Derby closed on Tuesday 25th February 2025 and there were 90 entries which included 31 Irish trained, 2 USA trained and 1 French trained horse.

Previous Winners

The Epsom Derby is run over a mile and a half and requires the three-year-olds to mix speed, stamina and good balance, as through the first half mile, horse and jockey will climb as high as Nelson’s Column.
